Welcome to the Banff Film Festival. This year our festival is filled with great delights - wonderful performances, free events, and lots of fun - as well as workshops, master classes and informative demonstrations.
It is a special year for us, one in which we have focused on the Banff Film Festival mission not only to bring nationally and internationally renowned artists into our midst, but to give back to the community through free events and community partnerships designed to showcase local artists.
The Banff Film Festival is set to enrapture festival lovers once again. Our venue will leave you fascinated, captivated and enthralled. With performances ranging from classic to contemporary, traditional to avant-garde, each act will inspire you to greater heights.
Banff Film Festival The Banff Mountain Film Festival takes place in Banff, Alberta, Canada each year on the first weekend of November. Usually over 200 films are submitted to a selection committee which chooses the best ones for the 3-day festival. Thousands of people from all walks of life who share a love of this world's natural beauty and the various mountain and outdoor sports gather to enjoy films from all corners of the globe. Popular film topics are climbing, skiing, whitewater kayaking, parasailing, mountain biking, mountain culture and much more with amateur films ranging in lengths from as little as 2 minutes to professional documentaries of up to 90 minutes. After the main festival in Banff, a dedicated team of "road warriors" leaves Banff in vans packed with projection and sound equipment and one precious DVD containing a selection of about 25-30 of the best films from the festival. …...more!
